NRA partners with Rision to manage workforce of the future

June 03, 2016

The National Retail Association (NRA) has today announced a strategic partnership with Australian cloud-based workforce solutions provider Rision, to give the retail sector more cost-effective, fair and transparent workforce solutions.

Rision Managing Director Dr Kate Cornick said recent high profile cases showed a great deal of retail businesses were at risk of inadvertently breaching Australia’s workplace laws, with the majority of the nation’s retail employees working on a part time or casual basis, and almost 30 percent of all Australian workers employed on a casual, part-time or shift basis.
“This number is expected to grow to around 40 percent of the workforce by 2020, with 85 percent of Australian companies saying they are increasingly using contingent, intermittent, seasonal, or consultant employees,” Dr Cornick said.

“Rision is working with the NRA to help their members navigate the risks and seize the opportunities to manage their workforces in a more cost-effective, efficient and fair manner,” she said.
More than 1.2 million people work in the Australian retail sector, which is worth almost $290 billion. The NRA is Australia’s oldest, largest and most representative retail industry organisation, representing more than 19,000 stores and outlets across the nation.

The partnership follows the announcement of the NRA’s and Rision’s partnership initiative Roster Coster, launching in July, which ensures members are able to manage their staff rosters more effectively, and that they are fully compliant with the General Retail Industry Award 2010 and Fast Food Industry Award 2010.

NRA CEO Ian Winterburn said Rision’s unique software management and global best-practice contingent workforce technology will further enhance the NRA’s comprehensive membership services.

“The majority of Australian retailers look to the NRA for professional services and retail-specific advice across all Australian jurisdictions, including in the complex area of employment law, and this offering will give members access to valuable workshops, seminars, tools and advice to ensure our Australian retail sector is leveraging the most progressive, fair, efficient and compliant platforms that benefit retailers and employees alike,” Mr Winterburn said.

“We are proud to work with this unique Australian owned and operated company, which is leading the way globally in workforce management innovation,” he said.
Rision will also be sponsoring the HR Practitioner of the Year Award at the NRA’s prestigious Rewards for Excellence event in Sydney on September 14.
