North Queensland Region Business Survey

July 13, 2016

The Queensland Department of State Development and the Department of Education and Training are partnering with the Regional Australia Institute to understand from local businesses, like you, how they can grow the regional economy and create more jobs. This is part of the Townsville and North Queensland Region Pathfinder project which is supported by Townsville Enterprise, Regional Development Australia Townsville and North West Queensland Inc., the five local governments in the region and the Queensland Government.

As you know, the North Queensland region is experiencing a period of diverse and rapid economic change, not all of it good. The Pathfinder project will examine future scenarios for the region and determine the factors that will shape social and economic change in the region. It will identify the most important areas for local collaboration and bring together resources, expertise and local knowledge to turn these development processes into action.

However, it’s always hard to gauge the local business story – and not get it confused with the government story. Therefore the Department of Education and Training have designed a business survey that you can fill in and provide your honest answers about: business growth; future opportunities; and barriers, in a safe, non-identifiable way.

The findings from the survey will be used in the Pathfinder project to ensure the North Queensland region is positioned to push the boundaries of its potential over the next 5-10 years and capitalise on the economic drivers in the region. We will also use the results to see how we can best help and support businesses in our region in the future.

This survey asks about your knowledge and experience of doing business in the North Queensland region. It will take 10- 15 minutes to complete. The survey will close on the 29th of July 2016.

Your responses to this survey are confidential. You can choose to remain anonymous by not answering the identifying questions at the end of this survey. Your participation is voluntary and you may stop at any time.

For more information on this project, please visit the Pathfinder Project website or email Todd Barr (Townsville) or Stephen Budd (surrounding local government areas).
