Seeking views on plastic bag ban

October 26, 2017

Victorian Members:

If you are one of our Victorian members, please note that the Victorian State Government is seeking views from the industry and wider community on potentially banning single-use lightweight plastic shopping bags.

A number of states have already introduced similar bans (most recently Queensland) and the NRA strongly urges all Victorian retailers to have a say to ensure that retailers views are heard loud and clear.

Should a ban come into effect, it’s vital that an extensive consultation period has taken place in order to provide minimal disruption to retail businesses.

You can read the Discussion Paper and have your say on the matter at the Engage Victoria website: engage.vic.gov.au/waste/plastic-pollution
